A significant number of our pupils have medical needs which are overseen by the school
nurse. Medicals, vision and hearing tests are carried out in school to which parents are
invited.
The school
nurse maintains regular contact with parents who require it and advises on a number of
issues including epilepsy, diabetes, dietary needs, weight and height, puberty,
incontinence and head lice.
The school nurse will also liaise with other medical professionals to seek the best advice
for families and school staff. She provides and organises training for school staff and
advises on policy and procedures in relation to all health care matters.
A number of
pupils have Individual Care Plans (ICP) that are written by the school nurse and the
family in conjunction with other professionals.
