The Early Years Department

Learning Practical SkillsThe Early Years Department offers young children between the ages of 2 and 7 years, the opportunity to learn in a safe, fun and stimulating environment. The curriculum incorporates appropriate areas of the Foundation Curriculum linked into the six key learning areas from our “Skills for Life” curriculum. The Early Learning Curriculum also has an additional focus on sensory learning.

Each pupil has small steps targets selected for them which will ensure achievement and progression. High staff to pupil ratios ensure that each pupil has individual attention to work on and practice the skills that are most important to their development.

Close working with other agencies such as speech therapy and physiotherapy is also important. The children in the Early Years Department have access to a range of specialist resources including a messy area for sand, water and paint activities, a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, food technology room and specialist music provision.
